It's a Christmas miracle!

Will anyone be ready to see a concert by December 11? This is one artist we've waited a few years too many to come back to our neck of the woods, but piano sensation Jim Brickman is scheduled to return to the Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.

A venue pre-sale is scheduled to begin, according to the Paramount website on July 22 at 10 a.m. and then tickets for "The Magic of Christmas" will go on sale to the general public on July 25 at 10 a.m.

His own website simply says "save the date", perhaps in a nod to the idea of all of this depending on what the world looks like regarding social distancing in December, but those who've waited for at least 5 long years for his comeback to Cedar Rapids will be crossing our fingers. It almost felt like he would never be back.

The photo below was from a meet and greet we did way back in 2012, at his concert that was part of the grand re-opening series at the Paramount after its recovery and remodeling from the 2008 flood. My, how far we've come since then. He's not only a fantastic musician but a gentleman and I look forward to seeing him in concert again.

Brickman's soothing piano sounds have been music to fans' ears for over 25 years, including collaborations with some of the world's most talented vocalists. "Valentine" put him on the map, thanks to the emotional vocal delivery of Martina McBride. Lately he's been treating fans to virtual concerts on his Facebook page, but if we are all in a better place by December, the real deal might be happening.

Other Eastern Iowa towns have been lucky enough to see him since his last Cedar Rapids stop, and we've proudly been involved in many of them. But with a Brickman return to the City of Five Seasons apparently imminent, we will keep you in the know on the details of the concert and contingency plans they may be working on to keep show-goers safe.
