KFC Is Testing a New Chicken Sandwich That Uses a Donut Bun

Fast food chicken sandwiches are having a moment. And apparently, KFC felt like they couldn't compete with Popeyes and Chick-fil-A with a straight-up, regular chicken sandwich.

So they're getting weird with it.

KFC just started testing a new chicken sandwich, that uses a donut as a bun. They're testing them in Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia and in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

KFC definitely isn't the first place to use a donut as a bun for a chicken sandwich, but they're the first national chain to do it.

There's no word on when these might go nationwide.
