It's Friday, January 10th and everyone is freaking out!!!!  I understand we are getting some inclement weather but trust me, everything is gonna be okay!

I just got off the phone with CBS2 Meteorologist Rebecca Kopelman and she gave me the details. It looks like we will most likely get some rain around 5 p.m. today. That will turn into sleet and later in the evening we will see snow.

More snow on Saturday and that will come with dropping temperatures and some crazy winds. I don't like it much either, but it is what it is. You see, THIS IS THE MIDWEST AND THIS IS WHERE WE LIVE. It will snow and life will go on.

The total snow amount predicted is anywhere from 4-8 inches. Again, this is pretty normal for this time of year and we should be fine. As I'm writing this I'm guessing people are flocking to Hy-Vee for bread and buying milk by the case....Ugh.

Don't get me wrong, you still need to be careful, but you don't have to be a shut-in this weekend. You can leave your house and enjoy yourself, so stop canceling those plans you've had for the last 6 weeks!

There is no reason to be worried, we have some of the best snowplow drivers in the country. These folks know what they are doing and they are prepared for this storm. You can still venture out and enjoy a weekend with your friends at a restaurant, bar, cafe, bowling alley or entertainment center.

We live in Iowa, we should be used to this kind of weather. Just be sure to take some extra time and be safe out there. You don't need to cancel your plans and you can still go to Grandma's house on Sunday for the weekly Uno game.

In wrap up, be safe out there and let's hope the weather people got this one wrong. I don't know about you, but I've really liked the mild weather we've been having here in Eastern Iowa and I hope it comes back really soon.

Stay warm and have a great weekend!
