Lights for The Lights This Sunday in Mt. Vernon
The Mt. Vernon community is making Sunday very special for one local resident who is fighting terminal cancer and may not make it to Christmas.
Ever since 104.5 KDAT has been invited to become a part of this special day, we've learned more about the life of Marsha Light and her importance to the community. A story in the local Mt. Vernon school newspaper talks about her husband, the wrestling coach at Mt. Vernon. Marsha has dedicated a big part of her life as an active member of the high school wrestling program for years. It's fitting for a fighter like her.
Our playlist for this Sunday is almost set, as we're working to program the perfect two hours of Christmas music, with limited commercial interruption as our gift to Marsha Light and Mt. Vernon. They are getting set to deck out their town with lights. Listen from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday for a special soundtrack to brighten Marsha's spirit and help them celebrate this day.
We've also learned of some other special touches, like a layer of "snow" to line her yard, a caroling walk in her honor starting at 10 a.m. at Elliott Field, and special Christmas cards prepared by the community.
