Linn County Declares Local Disaster Emergency in Response to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

The formal declaration activates disaster response and recovery aspects of the Linn County Comprehensive Emergency Plan

According to a press release from Linn County, a local disaster emergency has been declared. In support of the recommendation by the Linn County Emergency Management Agency, the Linn County Board of Supervisors today declared a formal local state of disaster emergency in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The emergency declaration is a formal step that authorizes the use of all available municipal and county resources as reasonably needed to assist in the response to COVID-19. Each municipality in Linn County will be able to sign the declaration for their community.

“This declaration is a formal recognition of the coordination that is taking place between other government agencies and partners as we work around the clock to combat and slow the spread of this virus and to protect the health and well-being of Linn County residents and our greater community,” Linn County Supervisor Stacey Walker said. “We will need this document in the event expenses incurred during our response are reimbursable by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. As the impacts of COVID-19 continue in our community, we encourage all county residents to continue to do your part to help minimize the spread of the disease.”
