The Iowa Farm Bureau is presenting the Grow Your Future Award where they'll be giving cash prizes to lucky, young Iowa entrepreneurs with an innovative agricultural-related businesses.

Applicants had to be between the ages of 18 and 35, have an existing ag-related for-profit business that was created by them, and had to be a good standing member of their country Farm Bureau. Ten finalists have been chosen and we've got a Linn County farm in the running.

Cassandra Kubik is the "dreamer" whose business is Pine Hill Farm in Walker, Iowa. The entry states "Pine Hill Farm specializes in growing vintage, heirloom cut flowers. Treasures lost in our past that deserve a place in our hearts and homes. Our flowers feature the best of what's in season. Handpicked and arranged fresh for the most impact and fragrance."

Kubik works the flower farm full time and says in her entry at dreambiggrowhere.com "I wear many hats throughout the season. I start each of my flowers from seed in the early spring, later transplanting out into the high tunnels and field. I plant, weeding, water, fertilize, prep beds, harvest, design, and sell." This farmer-florist is in her second year of operation and is off to a great start.

To help make Kubik's dreams of success come true, she (and the farm) need your votes! The public can vote at dreambiggrowhere.com. The voting ends Friday, December 13. The Top 6 will be announced by December 31, 2019 followed by a pitch-off at the 2020 Young Farmer Conference, January 31 – February 1, 2020. Winners for first, second, and third place will be selected on Saturday, February 1, 2020. If Pine Hill Farm wins, Kubik will take home the first place prize of $7,500 toward her dream.
