Local Manufacturer Expanding Reflects Area’s Growth

Raining Rose is a Cedar Rapids success story, that started as a hobby back in 1996 and has now grown into a major manufacturing business. Today the company announced it is nearing completion of an 8,100-square-foot expansion of production capabilities at its Cedar Rapids headquarters at 3015 1st Ave NE.

The $2.5 million renovation started in January, and will take the company from its current 300 gallon blending tank capability and grow it with the addition of one 600 gallon side phase tank, a 2,000 gallon blending tank and a 2,500 gallon storage tank that will be accessed via a new 12-foot mezzanine platform.

The first phase is being completed now and the company expects to add additional storage and blending tanks in a future phase. The first batches in this new production space are expected to start in early August.

Raining Rose is a personal care products manufacturer and promotional products supplier. If you’ve ever picked up a free lip balm from the KRNA booth at Farmer’s Market, chances are you’ve gotten your hands on one of their quality samples.

In 2012, Raining Rose consolidated its three Cedar Rapids production locations into the current $12 million facility. Today, Raining Rose employs about 300 people and expects to add up to 15 more people with completion of the new expansion.
