I'm not a Tom Brady hater. My favorite team plays in the NFC and hasn't been tormented by Brady and the Patriots. I'm sure I may feel different if they beat up on me twice a year. Then there are the accusations of cheating. Yes, the Patriots have been caught before. Once for videotaping other team's practices, and then 'Deflategate'. The later you could argue was a witch hunt. Brady was suspended for the first four games of the season. Sometimes the cover-up is worse than the crime. So you could understand why Brady and the Pats would want to stick it to the rest of the league and the NFL. But as we found out Sunday night, that's not what fueled Tom Brady.

Atlanta led Super Bowl 51 by the score of 28-3 in the third quarter. It was 28-9 at the start of the fourth quarter. I contemplated going to bed. But this was Brady. If he was the greatest of all time, then he surely had some magic left. Boy did he ever. Two touchdowns and two 2 point conversions later, we were tied at 28. We were head to the first overtime game in Super Bowl history. Was there any doubt who would win? The Patriots won the toss, and Brady led them 75 yards and into the endzone for the game-winning score. It was Brady's 5th championship, the most by any quarterback in NFL history. The commissioner would have to hand him the trophy. Revenge was his. It was after the game that we found out what Brady's real inspiration was.

Brady's motivation this whole year? His mother, Galynn. She had battled health issues all season long. Brady said that this Super Bowl was dedicated to her.

So how do you hate Tom Brady? Yes, he's still the handsome quarterback, married to his super model wife, with more Super Bowl rings than any other quarterback ever. But he's also the boy who went out and won a game for his sick mom. GOAT? You better believe it.
