Despite what Punxsutawney Phil had to say a week or so ago, it will be an early Spring in a different way and music to the ears of fans of Maddie Poppe when the 46th Annual Eastern Iowa Sportshow returns to the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls and features several shows headlined by the Hawkeye state native. Word is, she's going to bring the ukelele along.

The Clarksville native and American Idol winner will be at the event March 12-14, according to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for youth age 5-16. Children 4 and under get in for free.

Those admissions are for the entire event and include entry to Maddie's grandstand acoustic shows which are scheduled at 6 p.m. Friday, March 12, 4 p.m. Saturday, March 13 and 1 p.m. Sunday, March 14.

Maddie is still at the beginning of a career that took off in 2018 after winning the singing competition but she has always stayed true to her Iowa roots. She was in Cedar Rapids for a weekend of sold-out socially-distanced Christmas shows at the Paramount Theater ahead of the holidays in December and was recently part of her first major tour with singer Ingrid Michaelson.

Seating will be limited to 700 so get your tickets in advance through the Eastern Iowa Sportshow website.
