Our Iowa 'American Idol' winner stopped by the Corridor yesterday to do something really sweet! According to KCRG, Clarksville-native Maddie Poppe visited with families at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City. She sat with patients, took some selfies, and even played a few songs while she was there! Here are the photos posted by the hospital's official Facebook page:

Maddie also sang a few Christmas songs with a young eastern Iowa girl named Addi (who was released from the hospital yesterday!). After singing with Addi, Maddie autographed her guitalele (half guitar, half ukulele) and gave it to her. Her mom said it was the first time Addi had smiled in five days.

We were lucky enough to be able to interview Maddie several times during the American Idol season, and I knew right then that she was a truly wonderful human being. She's so humble and kind and true to herself, which I believe is one of the reasons America loved her so much. I really appreciate that she hasn't forgotten her Iowa roots and that she still finds the time to do nice things in the community, despite how busy ABC has kept her.

And speaking of Maddie, she also just posted a great holiday playlist on Spotify titled, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Playlist," which includes her own covers of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." You can check that out HERE!
