According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, "Maid-Rite will once again serve its loose-meat sandwiches in Marion."

The Maid-Rite in Marion closed back in January of 2017, after 31 years in business. If you ask me, it was one of the best spots in the Corridor. Great food, excellent service and a really cool vibe. The restaurant will reopen in the original location at 1000 7th Avenue in Marion.

I was sad when they closed, the Maid-Rite was one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved here way back in 1997. I got to know the staff, they were super cool and I fell in love with the food.

My favorite was the "Hot-Rite." It was essentially a Maid-Rite, piled on top of mashed potatoes and gravy. They were awesome and I can't wait to have another!

It looks like the plan is to have the restaurant reopened around December of 2020. According to the Gazette story, the menu will pretty much stay the same. That means sandwiches, tenderloins, onion rings and of course, Maid-Rites.

Congratulations, Maid Rite.....Here's to another 31 years!
