On the night of March 1, a player on the William Penn University basketball team was stabbed to death. 22-year-old Marquis Todd was beloved by his teammates and others in the small Mahaska County town of Oskaloosa. Now, authorities have made an arrest in the senseless death.

Nik Rule, William Penn's Director of Student Athletics, told the Des Moines Register the world needs more people like the late Marquis Todd. If we did, "(it) would just be the most amazing place ever."

According to the Oskaloosa News, Oskaloosa Police were called to a fight at 603 North 3rd Street at around 10:50 on the night of March 1. Police would find Todd, suffering from stab wounds, at a Jiffy convenience store a few blocks from the location of the original police call. He later died. Police say they think a minor crash is what started the entire situation.
