Family member detained while trying to enter the United States? Terminally ill friend on the brink of collapse as healthcare options are slashed? Not to worry, Matthew McConaughey said during an interview with BBC: it's time to embrace President Donald Trump — whose slew of recent executive orders is bringing America to its knees — anyway!

During a talk with BBC host Andrew Marr, McConaughey said it's time for Hollywood, especially, to get on board with the new president who, in the last 12 hours, threatened to send troops into Mexico, threatened to federally defund the University of California Berkley and potentially severed an important tie to Australia.

"Well, they don’t have a choice now,” McConaughey told Marr. “He’s our president. And it’s very dynamic and as divisive of an inauguration and time as we’ve had. At the same time, it’s time for us to embrace and shake hands with this fact and be constructive with him over the next four years."

"We'll see what he does compared to what he's said," McConaughey, who evidently hasn't turned on a television or checked Twitter since January 20, added.

Well, if the 2017 SAG Awards were any indication, Hollywood seems perfectly content resisting Trump's oppressive legislating — stars like Julia Louis-DreyfusSarah Paulson and Mahershala Ali all decried Trump's policy, specifically his recent executive order that limits immigration and refugee asylum.
