I recently attended my first show at the McGrath Amphitheatre and was beyond impressed. It helped that a lifelong bucket list band, Chicago, was playing and made it a magical night all-around, as expected.

The amphitheatre itself is amazing. A new seating arrangement -- as in, there actually ARE seats, although temporary and removable -- help this venue to step up its benefit to the community. While it's an attractive space in off-peak times, it's spectacular come showtime. It goes without saying how special it makes the views of downtown appear.

Yes, epic fail that I haven't attended more events there, given how many we're involved with here at KDAT. That's why I am so looking forward to July 4th and the Thomas Dostal Developers Freedom Festival Concert, headlined by Eric Paslay, of whom I've actually become a huge fan in a short amount of time. He sings a song about "Friday Night" and although the 4th is on a Saturday, it's a weekend party anthem that's going to rock in this environment.

It doesn't get much better than five national acts on stage, outdoors in the middle of summer. Follow that up with the best fireworks show in Iowa and you have an amazing celebration.

You can get more details on the Thomas Dostal Developers Freedom Festival Concert website and your tickets for the event by clicking the link below, and you'll want to do it soon, they'll be going fast. All ticket purchases also come with a Freedom Festival button -- a $5 value. Hope to see you there!
