He hails from southern Iowa and hasn't even played a high school game yet. Despite that, Fran McCaffery of Iowa and Steve Prohm of Iowa State have both offered him scholarships.

His name is Xavier Foster. That just sounds like a basketball name, doesn't it? The 14-year-old Foster will play for Oskaloosa in Mahaska County. He's 6-foot 9-inches tall and 190 pounds, with a size-17 shoe and 7-foot 1-inch wingspan. Coaches drool over a wingspan like that, but there's much more to like about Xavier Foster. The kid has skills.

The Iowa Hawkeyes offered Foster a scholarship last month, with Iowa State and Creighton doing the same last week.

It sounds like Xavier was a little intimidated by Fran's stone face during his workout but obviously, Fran was impressed with what he saw. Oskaloosa coach Ryan Parker says McCaffery told him that night he'd "never seen anybody like (Foster)." It was the same night Iowa would extend Foster a scholarship offer.

Eric Bossi, national basketball analyst for Rivals.com told the Des Moines Register, “Because he’s so young, you don’t want to make any grand proclamations or anything, but I think as he gets older and adds strength, he has a chance to be one of the next great prospects out of the state of Iowa.

Time will tell and everybody has to remember he hasn't even played a high school game yet, let alone been confirmed to be in the starting lineup.
