Oh boy, this is going to make me sound like a snob. Fair warning on that. I can assure you, I'm not with anything except my coffee. So I'm a coffee fan. This is well established, right? I also have... tepid feelings towards dairy. Actually, I like dairy. Dairy doesn't like me. But that doesn't mean I don't want some in my coffee. Key word: some.

My drink of choice is a cappuccino. Made correctly, it is about 85% foam. It has one, maybe two shots of espresso and some milk. I've actually gone into *redacted* and been asked, 'are you sure you want a cappuccino? They're stronger here. Not like the gas stations.' I always politely say, I know. And, I say 'extra dry'. That's code for 'please don't make it a milky mess'. Still, without fail, my caps are heavy on the milk; and very light on the foam.

Here's about what a cappuccino should look like...

How your cappuccino SHOULD look.

Sadly, I usually get one of these instead:

How your cappuccino usually looks...

After talking to a couple of area baristas who fully understand my frustration, they gave me a tip: Order an Americano. It's got NO milk or dairy. It's simply espresso and water. Those are good, and impossible to screw up. My only gripe, I really don't mind the foam. In fact, I really like it and miss it when it's not there. Or, when it's just milk.

Am I being too picky? A snob maybe? Should I just suck it up, or learn to make coffee at home? All fair arguments. My only response: the customer is (suppose to be) always right.
