Cedar Rapids Tourism sent out a press release announcing that the Cedar Rapids area is going to be featured on an upcoming episode of a new cooking show called Chef Eddie G Locavore. According to the release, the "series features Chef Eddie G., (as seen on Food Network’s Food Truck Race, NFL GameDay Chef, NFL Super Bowl Chef) as he travels the world, digging into the local abundance of an area, and sharing its flavors and people." It will focus on farm to table menu items, while Chef Eddie visits the "local farmers and ranchers to show what it takes to bring their food to the table." It makes sense that the show would make a stop in Cedar Rapids considering the massive farming industry in Iowa.

If you're wondering what exactly the title "Locavore" is all about, it describes those who love "enjoying local food, meeting the people who make it, and soaking in the culture of the area." If that sounds like you, you'll love this show. In fact, you can even get a taste of it yourself at one of the filming events.

I’m honored to share our Locavore concept in Cedar Rapids and celebrate the community efforts of providing meals from seedling to the final taste at each event,”- Chef Eddie G.

Area residents are invited to these ticketed events that will "showcase local chefs, wineries, and menus featured in the episode." Here are the venues and dates (Social distancing measures will be in place):

The businesses featured in the episode are extremely grateful to be a part of the show, especially since some are rebuilding after the August 10 derecho.

This Sip and Taste event is the perfect way to celebrate how far we’ve come in putting our farm back together after the derecho. We’ve had a lot of help with this effort in the past couple of weeks, and we are proud to welcome you back out to the farm for our first event of the Fall season,” -said Samantha Petersen, manager at Bloomsbury Farm.

Director of Meetings & Conventions with the Cedar Rapids Tourism Office, Julie Stow, says "We are grateful to Chef Eddie and the Locavore team for bringing national attention to the flourishing culinary scene in Cedar Rapids.” Get a glimpse of what to expect by watching the first episodes of Locavore on Amazon Prime Video here. We can't wait to see the City of Five Seasons represented on television screens in homes across the country.
