A lot of bad things have happened as a result of last week's derecho here in Eastern Iowa, but that doesn't mean that some good hasn't come out of it, too!

I don't know about you, but it seems like everywhere I see damage and destruction, I see a group of people who have come together to help. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from the legendary Mr. Rogers:

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

Last weekend, CBS 2/Iowa's New Now reporter Mitch Fick put a call out on social media for photos and videos of Iowans helping other Iowans. His post on the Iowa Derecho Storm Resource page on Facebook read:

"Hey all - I'm working on a montage to showcase all the 'Iowa Nice' moments during clean-up for a segment that'll air on Iowa's News Now (CBS2/FOX28) on Sunday night. If you have any pictures/videos of neighbors helping neighbors and folks going above and beyond to help each other, I'd love to see them in the comments so we can share them!"

The post received nearly 600 comments, which means there was no shortage of content for the montage. The video, titled "Pay It Forward - Iowa Stong," was shared by the news station on Sunday night. The caption reads:

"PAY IT FORWARD: We have seen countless examples of 'Iowa Nice' and 'Iowa Strong' since Monday's derecho leveled our communities. This week's Pay It Forward segment showcases just a handful of the hundreds of pictures and videos you sent in this week."

If those are all posts from last week, imagine how many more are out there this week! Do you have a photo or video of Iowans helping Iowans since last Monday's derecho? Please share them with us in the comments!
