The Christmas holiday proved to be a deadly one after a shooting in Coralville. Police say that one person was killed Christmas night near the Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville.

Police officers responded to a call of gunshots fired at around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night in the 900 block of Boston Way. Witnesses say they reportedly heard up to nine gunshots. Upon arriving, an officer found three adults suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders took all three to a local hospital where one of the victims later died. The identities of all involved are not being released.

Police officials are not releasing any information about others involved in the shooting. No arrests have been made yet in the case.

Departments that assisted in the shooting investigation include the Johnson County Sheriff, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, University of Iowa Department of Public Safety, Johnson County Attorney's Office, Johnson County Medical Examiner, and the Coralville Fire Department.
