[UPDATE 4/2 9 p.m.] The Linn County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the person killed in the Wednesday afternoon accident on Ellis Road west of Cedar Rapids. The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Dawn Stout of Cedar Rapids.

[ORIGINAL STORY] A late-afternoon crash in rural Linn County has left one person dead and three injured. Authorities say two vehicles collided head-on, in a construction zone.

Linn County Sheriff's Rescue and Deputies, along with the Atkins Fire Department, Area Ambulance Service, and Lifeguard Air Ambulance Service were all called to the accident at 12001 Ellis Road just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of an eastbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. That person's name has not been released, pending notification of relatives.

A westbound vehicle had three occupants. 30-year-old Bryce Wagehoft of Coralville,  23-year-old Wendie Beard  of Vinton, and 33-year-old David Nelson of Palo. All three were injured and taken by Area Ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital and Mercy Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, the westbound vehicle did not yield to the eastbound vehicle in a construction area. Ellis Road was closed for more than three hours after the crash. It reopened just after 9 p.m.

The investigation into the accident continues.
