One of the busiest roads in Cedar Rapids will be under road construction starting next week. The latest project on Collins Road will last 2 years.

The $7.5 million dollar project will stretch from Northland Ave. to Twixt Town Road, or the entire length of Lindale Mall. Improvements that are planned include left turn lanes for motorists and brand new sidewalks along Lindale Mall for pedestrians. Landscaped medians will also be built.

City officials say that the project will eventually help some of the traffic congestion that frequently plagues that area. Work on the project will also be limited during the busy holiday shopping season.

Nearly 30,000 vehicles use Collins Road every day. The project begins on Monday.
