With KidsFest right around the corner and the official start of Autumn on Monday, I think it's a good time to list some fun family activities for the approaching season.

CROQUET

We used to play this sport in my backyard as a kid. We had a huge yard and would send those big heavy balls flying all over the place. It's a throwback. It's fun....and fun to say!

LEAF IT IN YOUR WEEKEND PLANS
Jump in a giant pile of leaves. Make sure the kids and dogs are in on the fun at the same time. Climbing a nearby tree and leaping into the pile also a good option.

PLUG IN OUTDOORS
Take the digital dandies outside and let them surf under the sun at a park. Sometimes prying those things out of their hands is tough to do. At least they'll have some fresh air while playing Mindcraft.

FLAMES of FUN
Gather 'round the firepit. Tell some stories and catch some marshmallows on fire. Good fun in the backyard.

AND ONE TO BE WARY OF...
National Halloween shops pop up about this time of year. These seasonal companies rent out abandoned spaces across the region and stake their claim to the thousands of dollars we'll spend on the holiday. It's fun to check out these stores. Just make sure the little ones don't see the super scary stuff.

We'll see you next month at Kids Fest. We had a great time with all the kids and parents last year. I look forward to another great Townsquare Media event this year.
