It wasn't a good day for coronavirus statistics in Linn County on Monday. The official number of COVID-19 cases rose to 71 overall, the highest of any county in the state of Iowa. However, an eastern Iowa care center is at the heart of nearly a third of all Linn County cases.

During her press conference on Monday, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds revealed that 21 cases of coronavirus were associated with Heritage Specialty Care in Linn County. The governor classified it as a local outbreak which has been confirmed by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

KCRG TV reports that the governor confirmed that it was Heritage Specialty Care that was experiencing the outbreak. Previously, two employees and four residents had tested positive for COVID-19 at the center.

While the care center cases may account for 30% of the county's cases, another cell phone study has confirmed that Iowa is one of the worst states in the nation for social distancing. The study found that Iowans are among the five worst states in the country for changing their travel habits due to social distancing.
