Cedar Rapids schools will be closed for weeks due to the Coronavirus threat, but they recognize the need for their students to have a good meal.

Several schools in the Cedar Rapids district will begin to offer free breakfast and lunch for pick-up beginning Monday, March 23. Students 18 and younger can pick up breakfast and lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following elementary schools as well as Roosevelt Middle School for free:

  • Arthur
  • Grant
  • Grant Wood
  • Hoover
  • Wright
  • Taylor
  • Nixon

Johnson STEM Academy has been added as a location that will start pick-up on Monday, according to a CRCSD Tweet. CRCSD Superintendent Noreen Bush told Little Village that as of now, students do not have to attend these schools to use the locations for meal pick-up.

The four weeks of school missed due to coronavirus will not have to be made up by students, and Bush states that learning activities and programs will soon be available to use on the district website. Packets with learning activities will be offered with the free lunch pick-up.
