Some People Know Iowa For This ONE Thing
The other day some friends and I went to Wisconsin for a quick weekend trip, and as we went there, we meet some great people. I was surprised that when I said I was from Iowa some store owners in the area knew us for one thing.
And it wasn't something stereotypical like corn...
Apparently, Iowa is known by some mostly for its Nice Rest Stops.
Iowa has countless rest stops and areas across the state, and some have gotten some very solid reviews from travelers. It's no secret that Iowa is a highly traveled through the area, especially for those amazing truck drivers out there. Iowa is home to the largest truck stop in the world after all.
A place where people want to stop. On the eastern edge of Iowa, not far from the Mississippi River, adjacent to the small town of Walcott, you’ll find a place like no other in the world. The Iowa 80 Truckstop, now the World’s Largest Truckstop, established its home here in 1964 and is now in itself a home away from home to countless drivers and a destination for travelers as well.
That's not to say Iowa is the perfect spot by any means, I'm sure a few spots could still use some work, but clearly our rest stops are making an impact on some.
The owners I talked to do a lot of driving through out the Midwest, and said Iowa rest stops were their personal favorite. So what ever Iowa is doing with key rest stops, they should keep doing it!
