This past year continued to be challenging across our nation and here in Iowa, between the never-ending pandemic, labor shortages, and disputes, political strife, alongside all of our own personal challenges. But through all of that, we persevere and still "give thanks" for what we have rather than what we do not.

Here's a chance for you to give back to the community this holiday season by considering sponsoring a family's Thanksgiving dinner this year. The Northeast Iowa Food Bank will be giving out thousands of Thanksgiving dinners to those experiencing hunger in the Cedar Valley, along with Bremer and Butler counties as well. This year, they're looking to feed 4,000 northeast Iowa households with Thanksgiving dinner kits.

Here's how you can help local families celebrate Thanksgiving

There a three different levels of support, $35, $25, or a custom donation. You can even ask your employer to match your donation.

$35 donation - "Set the Table" with a full course meal, including meat, fresh produce, dairy, bakery items, a side dish, canned vegetables, and dessert.

$25 donation - "Prep the Table", providing meat, fresh produce, dairy, and bakery items. You can donate the remaining food items if you wish.

If you have more time than money to give...then you can gather your friends, family, and co-workers together and volunteer over the course of the three-day Thanksgiving distribution period, November 22 through the 24th. For more information and to sign-up click here
