Stream Elton John Tribute Albums ‘Revamp’ and ‘Restoration’
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Elton John should be feeling pretty darn sincerely flattered today: Not one, but two tribute albums dedicated to his career with songwriting partner Bernie Taupin are now in stores, with one (Revamp) dedicated to rock and pop stars covering classic John cuts and another (Restoration) focused on country artists putting their own spin on a different set of songs.
As previously reported, both Revamp and Restoration boast star-studded lists of participants. Willie Nelson, Chris Stapleton and Don Henley and his current Eagles bandmate Vince Gill are just a few of the country artists who contributed; on the pop and rock side, the roster includes Queens of the Stone Age, Lady Gaga and Pink — the latter of whom chipped in for a new version of "Benny and the Jets" featuring an appearance from John himself.
“It's always a huge compliment when an artist loves your song enough to take the time and effort to rework it," John enthused in a press release. "As songwriters, Bernie and myself are thrilled when singers we admire and respect as much as those on Revamp and Restoration choose to add their own unique twist in the process. It means that our music is still relevant and ultimately that our songs continue to reach new audiences. We're humbled and thank them all for their generosity."
Revamp and Restoration were recently prefaced with pre-release postings of Stapleton's take on "I Want Love" and a new version of "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" featuring Q-Tip and Demi Lovato, but both albums can be heard in full now. You can stream the complete compilations below.
