Surprise Surprise: Farmers’ Almanac Predicts Very White Winter

The year we all want to forget just keeps getting, uh, better.

The Farmers' Almanac has come out with its 2020-21 winter outlook. As a person who prefers moderate winter temperatures and low snowfall totals, I don't like what it expects. Farmers' Almanac says, "If you love the cold of winter, you're going to love our forecast if you live in the northern half of the country." That right there means I'm not going to love it, but hopefully you will!

The long-range forecast from Farmers' Almanac expects cold temperatures and above-normal snowfall for a large chunk of the midwest and upper midwest with more cold and snow just to the east. That absolutely includes the state of Iowa. You can read their full prediction for the upcoming winter HERE.

It's worth noting that Farmers' Almanac predicted a cold winter in 2019-20. Thankfully, that didn't materialize due to what they call Arctic Oscillation, which kept the coldest temperatures in the Arctic, where it belongs. Ok, the "where it belongs" part was my two cents. I hope this year's forecast meets the same fate. We won't have to wait that long to find out. Amazingly, the first day of Autumn is four weeks from today.
