You figured it wasn't a good sign when the Gander Mountain signage came off of their new building on Blairs Ferry Road earlier this week. Yesterday, we finally got confirmation that the outdoor retailer would NOT be using the newly built location.

Along Blairs Ferry Road in Cedar Rapids sits a brand new, empty, Gander Mountain store. When will the newly built store open to the public?

The answer is not a simple one.

A week ago, we told you of an impending bankruptcy filing by Payless Shoe Stores. That is now a reality, as is the closure of nearly 400 stores.

Just over two weeks ago, it appeared almost certain that the more than 100 Gordmans stores around the midwest would be closing. That is until a white knight arrived, in the form of another company.

500 of the company's four thousand-plus stores could be closing.

Last week, we told you it appeared a bankruptcy filing was imminent. For shoppers, it's much worse than that.
