Terry Swails not giving the weather forecast on televisions in eastern Iowa and western Illinois is going to take some getting used to. Swails, who has been the chief meteorologist at CBS2 and Fox 28 in Cedar Rapids for the last five years, has announced his contract is not being renewed.

Swails had spent 38 years in television prior to coming to Cedar Rapids including time at KWWL in Waterloo, and a lengthy stint in the Quad Cities where he worked at both KWQC and WQAD. On his website, TSwails, he reports he was also fired from those two stations. He believes the reason each time was money. Swails is at peace with their decision saying,

KGAN made a business decision they are entitled to make. We all need to respect it and move on from it. I hope it all works out for both sides. Please, no nasty notes to KGAN!

So what now? Swails, 63, says he and his wife have put their Cedar Rapids home for sale and may move to Canada for a year. After that, who knows. Swails is "waiting for the next door to open. My dream is far from over."
