The Five Seasons Vets Stand Down is a resource fair going into its 14th year in Linn County.

Veterans, non-veterans, anyone struggling and in need of these resources can meet and greet with over 80 social services agencies about financial, health, housing, educational, vocational, legal, and mental health services. The services are offered in a friendly and caring environment for those in need of them.

Veterans Memorial Stadium at 950 Rockford SW holds the event on Friday, September 6 starting with on-site registration at 9:30 a.m., followed by the resource fair, along with continental breakfast, opening ceremonies, music, social time and lunch.

It's also free to attend. The Valor Board nonprofit organization raises funds for the event and all the workers are volunteers.

Learn more about the event here or call Linn County Veterans Affairs at 319-892-5160.

According to Linn County Veterans Affairs director Don Tyne, the first Veterans Stand Down hosted 16 attendees in 2005 and has grown to serve an average of 200 people after 13 years.

Veterans and struggling folks in our community deserve all the help and resources they can get and this a fantastic opportunity for them. They can get help finding jobs, homes, health care and more. Check out the website for more details.
