We have plenty of food festivals here in Iowa, but which one is the very best?

Love Food recently put out a list of the best food festival in all 50 states, and the pick for Iowa is over here in the Eastern part of the state! The winner is The West Point Sweet Corn Festival in West Point, Iowa, which is located in Lee County.

The West Point Sweet Corn Festival got its start back in 1952 and is celebrating 69 years in 2022! The event is set for August 11th through 14th, with "Shuckfest" scheduled for August 10th. The website says, "Although not official, it is a widely known fact that West Point, Iowa holds the record for the fastest shucking festival town."

In addition to lots and LOTS of sweet corn, the three day festival features a carnival, free entertainment, BBQ pork and chicken dinners, 5k & 10k runs, a cornhole tournament, a parade, a mini tractor pull, arts & crafts, and more. You can check out the full four day schedule HERE.

If you're a fan of festivals that involve lots of corn, then you're in luck! There are a couple more coming up here in Eastern Iowa, including Elkader Sweet Corn Days and the St. Jude Sweet Corn Festival. Elkader Sweet Corn Days is scheduled for July 28th through 31st, and the St. Jude Sweet Corn Festival is coming up August 12th through 14th in Cedar Rapids.
