With October on the horizon, the colors are slowly moving into spectacular mode. Peak color viewing time according to the Iowa DNR is the weekend of 10/10. Meantime, the flowers of the Hawkeye State are still hanging in there. Once that hard freeze sets in, well, you know...

Until then, stop and smell them. As Ferris Bueller says, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around every once in awhile, you could miss it."

We've taken some trips to Pallisades-Kepler around this time of year. I'd highly recommend this park, just south of Cedar Rapids. The Coralville Res is always fantastic. And, if you want to venture out a bit, Pikes Peak will be in grand splendor as well.

Wherever you may roam, make sure you are packing the Radio Pup app in your smart phone, PC or tablet. KDAT's autumnal soundtrack is a nice accompaniment to those spectacular colors.
