The Iowa State Fair Will Make a Decision This Month

The Great Jones County Fair, the Linn County Fair, the Johnson County Fair... fairs and festivals all over Iowa have been postponed, canceled, or greatly reduced this summer because of the coronavirus pandemic. As of right now, the Iowa State Fair is still scheduled to happen, but as we get closer to August, a final decision will have to be made.

In a new update from the Iowa State Fair's official website, fair officials say that they will be making a decision on this year's event by June 15th. The post reads:

"In an effort to give us the best chance at the safest and healthiest possible Iowa State Fair in 2020, we continue to thoughtfully review our plans while carefully navigating the ever-changing COVID-19 landscape. We ask that you continue to be patient as we gather and analyze the many unique experiences that Iowans hold near and dear at the Iowa State Fair. We don’t take this decision lightly and we know that time is of the essence."

The last update from the Iowa State Fair was from May 6th and it was much longer than the latest post. At that time, they said a decision on whether or not to hold the 2020 fair would be arriving sometime in June. You can read the full statement HERE.

This year's fair is scheduled for August 13th through the 23rd. In terms of grandstand entertainment, Chris Stapleton was the first artist scheduled to postpone his entire tour. His Friday, August 21st show is now set for Thursday, August 19th in 2021. Other concerts still on the schedule include Bethel Music, Hairball, Keith Urban, The Beach Boys, Styx, Kidz Bop Live, and Sam Hunt.
