The Most Underrated Town In Iowa
MSN recently published a list of the most "underrated" towns in each of the United States.
Dubuque took the honors in Iowa. The article states it is our oldest city and its biggest attraction is said to be the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium.
That is unless you're a 'Game of Thrones' fan. George R.R. Martin was said to be inspired to create the show by the snowy winters he spent in Dubuque as a professor of English and Journalism at Clarke College in the 1970's.
The most underrated towns of some our midwest neighbors were Champaign, Illinois; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Wichita, Kansas; Grand Rapids, Michigan; St. Paul, Minnesota (Minneapolis always gets all the love, making its twin city underrated); Branson, Missouri (which we'd hardly call underrated); Alliance, Nebraska; Fargo, North Dakota; Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Madison, Wisconsin.
Time to plan your next trip to the "Masterpiece of the Mississippi" and see what the underrated gem of Iowa has to offer.
