One of the most beloved summer events here in Eastern Iowa is gearing up to return in 2021!

The 46th annual St. Jude Sweet Corn Festival will officially make its way back to Cedar Rapids this summer on August 13th, 14th, and 15th. After a year off thanks to the pandemic, the 2021 event will feature all the usual activities, including live music, a carnival, food, beverages, and lots and LOTS of sweet corn.

The Sweet Corn Festival's website says that planning for this year's event is still underway, but there are a few things we already know. For example, the live entertainment for the beverage tent has already been posted. Here's the current schedule:

  • August 13th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. - Gimmikk
  • August 14th from 2p.m. to 5 p.m. - Laid Back Band
  • August 14th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. - Slap N Tickle
  • August 15th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Relaxed Fit

We also know that the cost of admission will be $5 per day for ages 11 through 59, but if you keep your wristband on from Friday or Saturday, you'll be able to get free admission on Sunday.

As far as the annual raffle goes, there will be no car giveaway this year, but there will be a big CASH giveaway. If you purchase a raffle ticket for $10, you'll have will the chance to win the grand prize of $20,000 or one of ten $1,000 prizes. You can purchase your tickets early from St. Jude parishioners. You can read more about that HERE.

And, don't forget! The festival needs volunteers to prepare the corn. The site reads:

"Join us on Thursday, August 12th at 9am on church grounds to husk and clean 20,000 ears of corn. No need to RSVP or call ahead. With plenty of work to do, just show up and jump in."
