If you've starting watching Cobra Kai on Netflix you may have been surprised to see it already has two seasons, that's because the show actually came out in 2018, but was a YouTube original.

It was one of the few well received shows on YouTube Premium. I loved the show and watched the first episode when it came out, and fell in love with it, but many people didn't have YouTube Premium meaning not many people saw the show.

Now fast forward two years and it is the #1 series on YouTube with a third season in the works. As a whole most people love both seasons, with season one appearing to be the favorite of the two.

With Netflix taking over I hope it still feels real like the first two seasons, and keeps all the fan service in it. What is fan service you ask?

"Is material in a work of fiction or in a fictional series which is intentionally added to please the audience. The term originated in Japanese in the anime and manga fandom, but has been used in other languages and media."

If you're a big fan of the Karate Kid than you'll notice all the homages to the movies, and all the references only die hard fans would notice. for instance them mentioning how the bonsai tree business failed is in reference to the third movie, or in the first season they show deleted scenes from the first movie. My favorites include Spoilers so skip this next part if you haven't watched the show.

Season 1

Sadly  Pat Morita died in 2005 and is unable to reprise his role as Mr. Miyagi, his presence is felt throughout the show. Beyond that, though, his face appears a number of times--including this newspaper clipping that touts the victory of a "mystery dojo" at the All-Valley tournament.

Miguel's first date with Samantha was as goofy and fun as Daniel's outing with Ali back in the first Karate Kid. Golf N' Stuff makes its return to the Karate Kid world.

They even bring  Daniel LaRusso's mom back, which is awesome.

Season 2

The best fan service is when all the old Cobra Kai guys meet back up in season two and sadly one of the guys passes away. It shows him being put in a body bag. Ironically that is the same guy who as a kid in the finally fight of the first movie yells "Put him in a body bag!"

Overall whether you are a fan of the movies or are just watching the show with no prior knowledge I think you will have a fun time no matter what. I give it 8 out of 10 stars.
