Even though 2020 has been a bit of a downer, that hasn't stopped people from embracing the Christmas spirit and going all out with decorations.  For a house in Swisher, Iowa this Christmas spirit has been apparent ever since I can remember.  I grew up in Solon, Iowa in the early 2000's and every year we would drive to Cedar Rapids to see my family for the holidays.  To get to Cedar Rapids from Solon, we had to drive through Swisher and seeing this house decked out with lights quickly became my favorite part of the trip.

Houses wrapped in this much holiday cheer create a contagious joy that kids and adults cannot get enough of.  In a year filled with so much stress, being able to see homes like this provides such an innocent sense of relief and comfort. I was so grateful to be able to revisit this childhood spot and feel the nostalgia of earlier years.  As I parked and rolled down my window outside the house, I could hear the holiday music playing and the air was crisp with wintry freshness.  It truly was a great way to end my Friday night.

These lights may look underwhelming to some, but they remind me of some amazing times as a kid and hold a very special place in my heart. The bright lights and festive colors create a magical holiday scene I could look at for hours just reminiscing about memories with my friends and family.
