As kids we were taught the Golden Rule:

"Treat others the way you would like to be treated."

With the recent news of the Iowa City DJ who just learned he had the Corona Virus and had worked at the Longbranch on March 6th & 13th, I think we need to bear this advice in mind now more than ever.

I feel that it's unfair that the Longbranch is getting grief via social media over this. How could they have possibly known this? None of us really knew what to do these past few weeks and it's all been a bit confusing as to what's actually going on.

We don't even know for sure if this is where it came from. The DJ is from Iowa City, maybe he got it there where there are a number of cases. We don't know for sure and no one should be pointing fingers and belittling businesses during these tough times.

I know that I would hate to be in that position, wouldn't you? This could have happened anywhere. I feel bad for the owners of the Longbranch. There have been dozens of posts trashing the place and people have been very unkind to a business that's been in Cedar Rapids for over 51 years.

There have even been threats to the owners of the Longbranch. This shouldn't be happening and I'm not sure why it is.

We need to work as a community to get past this, not attack the people and businesses that make up this great community we live in.

We'll get through this.

We'll get through it and be even stronger as a community when it's all over.
