It's been a really long couple of weeks here for most of us in Eastern Iowa. The storm rolled in on Monday, August 10th, and we've been picking up the pieces ever since.

Some of you were without power for over two weeks. Some got restored in a few days, and the lucky ones were without juice for just one day. With that said, what was the worst part of not having electricity for you?

For me, it was having a guest in town for the week. My brother planned a trip to Cedar Rapids and was hoping to relax and have a little fun. Little did he know, instead of a vacation, he quickly found himself in survivor mode.

I felt bad for him, but there was nothing I could do. He was a good sport about it, but it wasn't much fun. The food I had purchased prior to his arrival all went bad so we were stuck eating cold soup by candlelight. What a vacation!

He understood, and we made the best of the situation. But coming home to a dark house every night got old. We were both ready for it to be over.

But if I had to pick one thing, it was not having air conditioning. My home would get so hot at night and it was very hard to fall asleep. I normally have zero issues sleeping, but that week right after the storm was pretty rough. I just couldn't get comfortable.

Luckily for me, I was only without power for 5 days. It's ironic, the day my brother left for the airport to return home, the power turned on one hour later. I blame him!

Comment below and let us know what the worst part was for you during the power outage here in Eastern Iowa.

Let's hope we never have to go through this again.
