You've probably heard the old saying, 'you can't win if you don't play.' It's true. You'll never take home a huge lottery payout unless you pony up the one or two dollars it takes to play. Some people play their numbers every week. Others, like myself, don't really play until the jackpots get huge. Either way, you might want to test your luck out today, because if you can't win on National Lottery Day, when will you?

Everyone has dreamed of winning the big one. Writing this right now affords me the opportunity to dream about what life would be like if I had hundreds of millions of dollars at my disposal. I love it when people say that they'd still work if they won the lottery. Not if I won the big one! I enjoy the life of leisure too much to get up and do this radio show. There would be multiple houses, new vehicles, college for all of my kids! I could donate to my favorite charities and travel the world without a care in it. Yes, I've given this some thought. Unfortunately, there is something called 'the odds' the make winning the lottery a bit difficult. Your odds of winning a huge Powerball-like jackpot are around 1 in 300 million. So you're saying there's a chance! Actually, you're more likely to get hit by lighting, be killed by a vending machine, or become an astronaut than to win the lottery. Sorry to burst your bubble.

But don't let those pesky odds dismay you. On this National Lottery Day, dare to dream. The dream of unlimited wealth. The dream of financial security. The dream of unknown relatives coming out of the woodwork. Ah, the 'lottery' dream.
