When Will Springtime Arrive in Iowa This Year?
Sure it might only be the first day of February, but in my honest opinion, it's never too early to start thinking about Spring. The warming sun, melting snow, songs of the birds and wildlife enjoying life again. The blossoms on trees and the greening of grass. Spring is a renewal. Life 'springs' up again! We've made it through another Iowa winter. And if you're hoping that Spring will arrive early this year, you just might be in luck!
This has been a fairly typical Iowa winter. We've had some big snow events, and our share of sub-zero temperatures too. And while we could still have plenty of both head our way, OnlyInYouState.com reports that springtime in Iowa is forecast to be here sooner rather than later.
The folks at Accuweather predict that springtime will hit for much of Iowa during the later parts of March, although the farther south you are, the better your chances are to see warmer weather earlier. With winter temperatures below normal for much of the season so far, can we expect the same come spring?
Accuweather says 'no'. Iowa and much of the Midwest can expect above-average temperatures as spring hits later in March. So if you're sick of winter and can't wait for green grass, lighter jackets, and heck, even a little mud on your tires, it appears that spring could 'spring' early this year! When are weather forecasters ever wrong?
