Girl power! Don't forget, if you plan on attending this week's Uptown Friday Night, it will actually be on Saturday night this week, July 24.

Why are they having it on Saturday?

According to Maureen Dees of the Cedar Rapids Jaycees, they are hosting this week's event in honor of local female business owners. As most of them work on Friday, the move to spotlight them on Saturday made more sense. They're calling it a "Girl Power & Glow Party", and according to Maureen, besides performances by Alisabeth Von Presley and Barbie Johnson, there will be a lot more to this event than the usual UFN.

"It's going to be almost festival-like"

Maureen says to set up for this special event is going to take extra time. It also starts early on Saturday, with gates opening at 5 p.m. at McGrath Amphitheatre. As usual, our friends at Hazzard County Saloon have stepped in as the backup venue in case of rain or inclement weather. Maureen says we can expect food trucks, an elaborate light show, and information and registration for the October 2nd Crunch Berry Run. Several community organizations will also be setting up booths.

Admission costs will not increase

It is still just $5 to get in despite all the extras this week, and you can pay at the gate or order tickets here. Better yet, sign up for 4 free admissions to take your friends to this or any Uptown Friday Night show on us. Don't worry, it's all about spotlighting women but men (and anyone 21 and over) are still welcome as well!
