The Scariest Bug Ever Found In Iowa [WATCH]

Right off the bat, I want to warn you that parts of the video down below are pretty gross. If you'd like to check out the video, that's awesome. If you're squeamish...you might want to just skip that part.

How do you feel about spiders and insects? Are you pretty cool with them on or around you or are they a big no when they come across your path? I'm somewhere in the middle. I'm not afraid of bugs or smaller spiders but if I come across something bigger than average, I'm not the biggest fan in the world. If I ever come across one of these, I am sprinting as far as I can in the other direction.

I'm pretty sure these are some of the grossest parasites you'll ever see in your entire life. This parasite is more commonly found in animals but it is definitely possible for these to enter a human body.

Thankfully, according to Out Break News Today, it's pretty rare in the United States. This parasite is also most commonly found in Central and South America but they have been reported in most of the continental U.S.

On the Insects of Iowa website, there have only been 3 reported sightings, so thankfully this is extremely rare. The fact that this is even possible to be a problem gives me goosebumps.

I hope you, your family, your pets, your livestock, and anyone you know...never have to face a Bot Fly. This is one of the grossest things I've ever seen.

According to Out Break News Today, Botflies are relatively large flies who hijack smaller mosquitos in flight, in order to attach their eggs. Once the botfly attaches it's eggs to the mosquito, it sends it on its way, looking for a blood meal.

Once the mosquito finds its blood meal, from either a human or an animal, the body heat of that mammal causes the eggs to hatch. The botfly larvae can reside in the host's tissue.

The sad part is that the best way to treat a botfly infestation is to remove the larva with tweezers. Out Break News, you'll need to cut off the air supply with vaseline or tape, which will cause the larva to emerge, and then you can extract them with the tweezers. Other than it being pretty gross...it also hurts to remove the larva. They have backward-facing barbs that help secure them to the tissue they've attached to.
