When you think Illinois, you probably think about things like corn, taxes, and deep dish pizza. You might not think "fast hand clapping" or "garlic". But it turns out that's what we should be known for!

Whether it was a solo venture, or with a big group, these Guinness World Records are hilariously impressive. So let's just dive right into them. Here's 5 world records held by people in Illinois according to OnlyInYourState -

  1. Tallest man - Robert Wadlow is still the tallest man in recorded history (8 ft., 11.1 inches). He was born in Alton, Illinois in 1918. He started growing big at a young age and ate about 8,000 calories a day to maintain himself.
  2. Most garlic eaten in a minute - A man from East Dundee, Illinois set the record for most cloves of garlic eaten in a minute when he ate 36 cloves.
  3. Most people husking corn - In 2012, nearly 3,500 students from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana earned the record for most people husking corn.

Number 5 is the most "Illinois" thing I've ever heard of.
