A Cedar Rapids DJ is Planning a Prom for Local Seniors
Social distancing has been rough on a lot of people, but high school seniors are one of the groups that have been impacted the most. Many 2020 seniors were forced to miss out on spring sports, final performances, graduation ceremonies, and prom. There's not much anybody can do about most of the cancellations, but can prom still be saved? A local DJ is going to find out!
According to KCRG, DJ Clife Estores with Clife DJ Company is putting together #SAVETHEPROM, an "exclusive prom for the senior class of 2020." The event is planned for Friday, July 10 at Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cedar Rapids. The Clife DJ Company website says:
"We have a Mirror Photobooth provided by Gems and Joy. A Studio Photographer (TBA) will be onsite to take your Prom photos. A videographer (TBA) will also be on site to film this amazing event. We will also have all sorts of surprises and effects to elevate your prom experience! Lastly, we said 'We are going all out!' so we are flying in one of the best PROM DJs from California to help us rock this party for you!"
The Eventbrite page says that the featured DJ is Los Angeles DJ Mike Villa.
The theme for the dance is Red Carpet Masquerade Ball, which means that attendees are encouraged to wear masks that are decorated for the occasion, as well as formal attire. Police and adult chaperones will be in attendance and each student will be emailed a parental consent form that will have to be turned in upon entry. Local high school juniors and seniors will also have to show a school ID.
Clife told KCRG that he's already seen a lot of interest in the event from local seniors, but that they will have to meet a minimum number of attendees in order for the event to happen. Tickets for the event are $45. You can purchase those and get more information on #SAVETHEPROM HERE.
