I am and probably always will be a bigger user of Facebook than Twitter. If I'm using social media, Facebook's platform is much easier for expressing my thoughts clearly (as you may have concluded from some of my blogs, I am quite long-winded in writing!). I also blame Twitter (and texting...and the Kardashians, but I digress) for our collective dumbing down. This is where a new change rumored to be coming to Twitter comes in. This news perked me up faster than my first cup of coffee the morning as soon as I saw it -- the 140-character limit may soon be gone!

I don't know about you, but I hate having to condense my posts -- pardon me, Tweets -- into less than 140 characters. I usually can't even BEGIN to make my point in that little amount of space. I keep my Twitter account because it's the "thing to do", and because there's enough useful and coherent content to keep me interested, but the "grammar nazi" in me cringes regularly. Even if this update doesn't lead to longer Tweets, hopefully, it at least encourages the use of complete sentences and full-length words. Abbreviations of speech on social media have seemed to lead us to abbreviations in everyday speech and it's annoying.

Then again, if Twitter is aiming to become more similar to Facebook, I might as well just stick to Facebook. Read about the potential changes to Twitter here and tell me your thoughts in the comment section below.
