A Well-Deserved Honor is Awarded to a Legendary Band
One of the highlights of 2015 for me was definitely seeing Chicago in concert this past summer at the McGrath Amphitheatre in Cedar Rapids. You might also recall my discussion here about their long-overdue nomination to the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The big news was announced recently that they have been officially selected for induction in April.
One bit of speculation continues to persist: Will former lead singers Peter Cetera and Bill Champlin reunite with their old bandmates to accept this honor and perform together? (The late Terry Kath will unfortunately only be there in spirit).
Immediately after the Hall of Fame selection was announced, founding member Robert Lamm sat down with Rolling Stone magazine for an interview. During this interview, Lamm gives Chicago fans a tremendous amount of hope for a reunion (and adds to his coolness by professing his love for 'Straight Outta Compton', the movie based on the career of fellow inductees N.W.A). Read the interview here.
As Chicago (along with N.W.A, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple and Steve Miller) .prepares to accept their place in this esteemed institution on that April night in New York, be careful not to "Look Away" and miss it because I have a feeling this is "Only The Beginning".
What do you think about the induction of Chicago or their counterparts in the newest class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Would a performance with or without Cetera or Champlin make a difference to you? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
