CBS2 News is reporting that more employees at Amana Whirlpool Corporation working at the facility in Amana have tested positive for COVID-19.

Senior manager of communications at Whirlpool, Chadwick Parks, issued the following statement on Tuesday.

The health and safety of our employees and the Amana community is our top priority, and out of an abundance of caution we are temporarily closing the Amana facility. While the plant is closed we will be performing a deep cleaning of the facility...We are working with local health authorities to provide the necessary support for our colleuges and we are wishing them well.

The Amana plant had previously shut down in early April after multiple cases of coronavirus were discovered at the plant. The very first confirmed case was reported at the facility on March 24th.

The company says that despite the shutdown, the North Liberty Whirlpool warehouse will remain open.
