Bohannon And Garza Step Up Big In Iowa Win

Life without Tyler Cook continued last night for the Iowa Hawkeye men's basketball team. The junior sat out again nursing an ankle injury. Fortunately for Iowa, several other Hawkeyes stepped up in their 89-82 win at Penn State.

Ryan Kreiner scored 15 points and dished out 5 assists coming off the bench. Isiah Moss hit four big three-pointers in the first half to bring Iowa back from an early deficit. But it was Jordan Bohannon and Luka Garza that provided the bulk of Iowa's scoring. Garza matched his season high with 22 points and 12 rebounds. He and Kreiner were simply too much to handle down low for Penn State.

But the Nittany Lions kept things close right down to the wire. Penn State led by one with under four minutes to play. But Jordan Bohannon took over and led Iowa back, including a deep three-pointer to seal the Iowa win. Bohannon hit five threes on the night and dished out six assists. Iowa improves to 4-3 in Big Ten play and 15-3 on the season. The Hawks host Illinois on Saturday afternoon.
